3-Day Motorcycle Riding Itinerary for Rishikesh and Badrinath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Rishikesh

    In the morning, visit the famous Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula bridges, both of which offer stunning views of the Ganges River. Next, head to the Triveni Ghat for a dip in the holy river. For lunch, stop by one of the many cafes near the bridges and enjoy some local North Indian cuisine. In the afternoon, explore the Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, where the famous band once stayed and wrote many of their songs. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony at Parmarth Niketan Ashram and witness the beautiful Hindu ritual of worshiping the river Ganges.

  2. Day 2: Badrinath
    9 hours (304 km) from Rishikesh

    Start early in the morning for your ride to the holy town of Badrinath, nestled in the Himalayas. The journey offers stunning views of the mountains and valleys and takes approximately 9 hours with stops for lunch and tea breaks. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take the rest of the afternoon to relax and acclimate to the high altitude. In the evening, visit the Badrinath temple, one of the holiest shrines of Hinduism, and attend the evening aarti ceremony.

  3. Day 3: Mana Village and Vasundhara Falls
    2 hours (3.5 km) from Badrinath

    In the morning, ride to Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-China border. Explore the village and visit the Vyas Gufa, a cave where the ancient sage Vyas is said to have composed the Mahabharata. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then ride to the Vasundhara Falls, a stunning waterfall located approximately 6 km from Mana Village. Spend some time enjoying the natural beauty of the falls and then start your ride back to Rishikesh, stopping for tea and snacks on the way.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider a visit to the Neer Garh Waterfall in Rishikesh, a popular spot for swimming and picnicking. You can also take a rafting trip on the Ganges River. For side trips, consider a visit to the Valley of Flowers National Park or the Hemkund Sahib, a Sikh shrine located at an altitude of 4,632 meters above sea level. To maximize your fun, make sure to pack sunscreen, comfortable clothing and footwear, and plenty of water. Lastly, be prepared for unpredictable weather and road conditions in the mountains.
