Getting around Zanzibar can be done by taxi, motorcycle, and public transportation. Taxi rides vary in price depending on where you are going, but you can always negotiate with the driver. Motorcycle rides are cheaper but can be dangerous, especially for those unaccustomed to driving in Zanzibar. For a more authentic experience, try the local transportation known as daladalas, which are mini-busses. Keep in mind that they can be packed with people and may not follow a strict schedule. Expect to spend around 60 USD for transportation during the trip.
If you have more time, consider adding a day trip to Mnemba Island for diving and snorkelling. Also, if you have less time, you can do a condensed version of this itinerary by skipping Nungwi Beach and doing the Stone Town walking tour and Jozani Forest on the same day.
Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) is the main airport in Zanzibar and is located approximately 5 miles from Stone Town. The airport has direct flights from several cities in Africa and Europe.
