Three Days Family Friendly Itinerary in Patna in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahavir Mandir
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Patna Junction Railway Station

    Mahavir Mandir is one of the most famous temples in Patna, dedicated to Lord Hanuman. It opens early in the morning and remains open till late night. You can start your day by seeking blessings at the temple and then head to the nearby restaurants to enjoy breakfast. After breakfast, visit the Patna Museum which is just 20 minutes away. This museum has an impressive collection of artifacts, rare paintings, and sculptures from India's rich history. In the evening, you can visit the Gandhi Maidan which is just 15 minutes away and enjoy some street food and a walk.

  2. Day 2: Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan
    20 minutes (7 km) from Mahavir Mandir

    Also known as the Patna Zoo, Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan is a perfect place for a family outing. You can spend the morning exploring the zoo and admiring the various species of animals. After that, head to the nearby Eco Park, which is just a 5-minute walk away, and enjoy boating in the lake. In the evening, take a heritage walk around the Patna Sahib Gurudwara, which is a holy shrine for the Sikhs.

  3. Day 3: Kumhrar Excavation Site
    30 minutes (9.3 km) from Sanjay Gandhi Jaivik Udyan

    Kumhrar is an archeological site where the remains of the ancient city of Pataliputra have been excavated. You can spend the morning exploring the site and learning about the rich history of Patna. After that, you can head to the Bihar Museum, which is just 15 minutes away, and learn more about Bihar's history and culture. In the evening, you can visit the Indira Gandhi Planetarium and enjoy a show about the cosmos.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit Bodh Gaya, which is just 2 hours away from Patna. It is a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also take a day trip to Nalanda, which is about 2 hours away and visit the ancient Nalanda University ruins.
