Most of the destinations can be accessed either by taxi or by private hired car. It is better to book taxis or drivers in advance who can assist with navigation and also to negotiate rates before starting the journey. Costs can vary depending on location and time of day.
If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to Prison Island which is known for its giant tortoises, snorkeling, and beautiful beaches. If you have less time, consider skipping the Spice Tour or the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park depending on your interests.
Zanzibar International Airport (ZNZ) is located in the heart of the island, approximately 6 km south of Zanzibar City. Many airlines operate direct flights to Zanzibar from various locations. The airport is small and easily navigable. Taxis and airport shuttles are available to access the city center.
