7-Day Honeymoon Itinerary in Meghalaya, September 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Shillong International Airport

    Take a morning walk at Ward's Lake, then visit the Don Bosco Museum of Indigenous Cultures. In the afternoon, head to Shillong Peak for panoramic views. For dinner, try out the local cuisine at Jiva Grill.

  2. Day 2: Cherrapunji
    1 hour 40 minutes (40 miles) from Shillong

    Start the day with a visit to the Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. After lunch, explore the Mawsmai Cave and the Seven Sisters Falls. For dinner, try out the restaurant at Polo Orchid Resort.

  3. Day 3: Dawki
    2 hours 20 minutes (55 miles) from Cherrapunji

  4. Day 4: Mawlynnong

  5. Day 5: Nongriat

    Hike to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge, one of the most unique attractions in Meghalaya. Have lunch at the nearby Rainbow Falls. Spend the afternoon exploring the other living root bridges in the area. For dinner, try out the food at the Café Cherrapunjee.

  6. Day 6: Jowai
    2 hours 20 minutes (55 miles) from Nongriat

    Visit the Krang Suri Falls and the Tyrshi Falls along the way. In Jowai, explore the Nartiang Monoliths and the Durga Temple. For dinner, try out the local cuisine at Hotel Centre Point.

  7. Day 7: Shillong
    1 hour 45 minutes (43 miles) from Jowai

    Spend the morning at the Elephant Falls and the Shillong Cathedral. In the afternoon, visit the Lady Hydari Park and the Shillong Golf Course. For dinner, try out the food at the popular restaurant City Hut Family Dhaba.

Recommendations

Don't miss out on the Mawphlang Sacred Grove, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Shillong. If you have extra time, consider visiting the Nongkhnum River Island, the largest river island in Meghalaya. To maximize your fun, try out some of the local adventure activities, such as zip-lining, caving and rock climbing.
