3-Day Nature Itinerary: Alibaug, Nagaon, Murud Janjira, Mumbai - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Alibaug
    2 hours (50 miles) from Mumbai

    Begin your day with a visit to the Kolaba Fort, a prominent landmark situated in the middle of the sea. This fort offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape. After lunch, head to the Alibaug beach, a serene and secluded beach away from the bustling crowds. In the evening, visit the Kanakeshwar Forest, a dense forest filled with exotic flora and fauna.

  2. Day 2: Nagaon
    30 minutes (9 miles) from Alibaug

    Start your day with a visit to the Nagaon Beach, a pristine and expansive beach with crystal clear waters and soft sands. After lunch, head to the Birla Mandir, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, located on a hilltop overlooking the Arabian Sea. In the evening, visit the Murud Janjira Fort, a historic fort surrounded by water on all sides which can only be accessed via boats.

  3. Day 3: Mumbai
    2 hours (60 miles) from Murud Janjira

    Start your day in Mumbai with a visit to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a sprawling park filled with lush greenery and exotic wildlife. After lunch, head to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site consisting of ancient rock-cut temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the evening, visit the Marine Drive, a popular promenade overlooking the Arabian Sea, and catch the sunset.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can consider visiting the Kashid Beach near Murud Janjira or taking a ferry to the famous Elephanta Island from Mumbai. For a side trip, you can visit the Matheran Hill Station located near Mumbai which offers scenic views and a peaceful environment. To maximise your fun, try the local Maharashtrian cuisine and attend some cultural events.
