3-Day Adventure Itinerary in Hokkaido

  1. Day 1: Daisetsuzan National Park
    1 hour 40 minutes (55.1 miles) from New Chitose Airport

    Start your adventure by hiking in Daisetsuzan National Park, the largest national park in Japan. In July, the park will be filled with colorful alpine flowers. You can take a cable car up to Kurodake, where you can enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, hike down the mountain and visit Sounkyo Gorge, where you can see the waterfalls and experience the natural hot springs. In the evening, experience a traditional Japanese onsen (hot spring) in one of the local hotels.

  2. Day 2: Furano and Biei

    Take a scenic road trip to Furano and Biei, where you can see beautiful fields of lavender and sunflowers. Visit Farm Tomita, a popular lavender farm with a variety of lavender fields and a flower garden. You can also try lavender-flavored ice cream and other lavender products. In the afternoon, visit the Blue Pond, a scenic pond with blue water created by aluminum in the water. In the evening, check out the Furano Cheese Factory and try their delicious cheese products.

  3. Day 3: Shiretoko National Park
    5 hours 10 minutes (177 miles) from Furano and Biei

    End your adventure by exploring Shiretoko National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its unspoiled nature. Take a boat tour to see the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko Peninsula, where you can see various wildlife such as brown bears and whales. In the afternoon, hike to the Shiretoko Five Lakes, where you can see the reflection of the surrounding mountains on the crystal clear lakes. In the evening, relax in one of the local hot springs and enjoy the view of the starry sky.
