Adventure Itinerary for Ooty and Wayanad in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ooty Botanical Gardens
30 minutes (11.5 miles) from Ooty Lake

In the morning, explore the well-maintained gardens and the immense variety of flora at Ooty Botanical Gardens. After lunch, head to the Doddabetta Peak, the highest peak of the Nilgiri Mountain range. Enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills while sipping on some piping hot tea. In the evening, you can visit the Tea Factory and Museum to know more about the tea-making process.

  2. Day 2: Bandipur National Park
2 hours (49.1 miles) from Ooty Botanical Gardens

Start the day early to reach the Bandipur National Park. Spot different species of animals like tigers, elephants, and sloth bears while on the safari. After the safari, head to the Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta temple, situated on the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park. End your day with a relaxing bonfire while stargazing at your resort in Bandipur.

  3. Day 3: Chembra Peak
2 hours 30 minutes (55.2 miles) from Bandipur National Park

Embark on a trek to the highest peak in Wayanad, the Chembra Peak. The trek is a challenging one, but the views from the top are worth it. After completing the trek, head to the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall that cascades down from a height of 200 meters. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing at your resort.

  4. Day 4: Edakkal Caves
1 hour 30 minutes (34.8 miles) from Chembra Peak

Visit the Edakkal Caves, situated on top of Ambukutty Mala. The caves have been formed by a large split in a huge rock. It is believed that these caves have been inhabited by humans since the Neolithic era. After the caves, head to the Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake surrounded by lush greenery. End the day with some shopping in the local markets of Wayanad.

Recommendations

If you want to take a break from adventure activities, you can visit the Ooty Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by eucalyptus trees. You can also visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary in Wayanad to spot more wildlife. To maximize your fun, you can try zip-lining and rock climbing at the Soochipara Falls. We recommend you to try the local cuisine of both places, especially the biryani and parotta in Wayanad.
