7-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Haridwar, Kedarnath, Tungnath in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Haridwar
    30 minutes (18.6 miles) from Jolly Grant Airport

    In the morning, visit the Har Ki Pauri ghat to see the Ganga Aarti, a spiritual ritual worshipping the river Ganges. Afternoon can be spent exploring the city's bustling markets for souvenirs. In the evening, take a cable car ride to the top of the Mansa Devi temple for stunning views of the city.

  2. Day 2: Kedarnath
    9 hours (145 miles) from Haridwar

    In the early morning, start your journey to Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a holy pilgrimage site. Upon arrival, visit the Kedarnath temple and take a dip in the hot springs. Spend the evening exploring the quaint town and enjoying local delicacies such as the Kachori and Thukpa.

  3. Day 3: Kedarnath

    Spend the day trekking to the beautiful Vasuki Tal lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains and picturesque views. Return to Kedarnath for an evening of stargazing and peaceful relaxation.

  4. Day 4: Tungnath
    4 hours (75 miles) from Kedarnath

    Embark on a scenic drive to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. Enjoy a 3.5 km trek to the temple and take in the stunning vistas of the Himalayas on the way. After returning, relax and rejuvenate in the hot springs at Gaurikund.

  5. Day 5: Tungnath

    Spend the morning exploring the beautiful Deoria Tal, a serene lake surrounded by lush green forests and meadows. Afternoon can be spent relaxing and soaking in the natural hot springs at Tungnath. In the evening, enjoy a bonfire and stargazing at the campsite.

  6. Day 6: Haridwar
    8 hours (181 miles) from Tungnath

    Start the day early and take a scenic drive back to Haridwar. On the way, stop at Rishikesh for an adrenaline-pumping experience of river rafting in the Ganges. Upon return to Haridwar, visit the Chandi Devi temple and enjoy a cultural show at the Haridwar Haveli.

  7. Day 7: Haridwar

    Take a morning walk along the ghats of the Ganges and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Spend the afternoon exploring the Daksheshwar Mahadev temple and the Shantikunj Ashram. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the Ganges and take in the beautiful views of the city.

Recommendations

Consider visiting the Rajaji National Park for a day trip from Haridwar. You can also opt for a helicopter ride from Kedarnath to Phata and visit the Triyuginarayan temple. To maximize your fun, try local street food such as Jalebi and Aloo Tikki. Don't forget to carry warm clothes for the chilly weather in the mountains.
