Exploring Belur, Halebeedu, Chikmagalur, and Dada Pahad: A 2-Day Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Belur and Halebeedu
    Belur is 225 km (4.5-hour drive) from Bangalore
    Belur is 16 km (25-min drive) from Halebeedu

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Chennakesava Temple, one of the finest examples of Hoysala architecture. The intricate carvings and sculptures will leave you in awe. Afterward, head to the Yagachi Dam, a picturesque spot where you can enjoy boating and a lovely view of the surrounding hills.

    Afternoon: Drive to Halebeedu, another town renowned for its Hoysala temple architecture. Here, visit the Hoysaleswara Temple, with its stunning sculptures and exquisite details. You can also visit the Archaeological Museum to see some of the excavated artifacts.

    Evening: Watch the sunset from the hills of Halebeedu and enjoy the panoramic view of the town. If you have time, you can also visit the Kedareswara Temple, one of the oldest temples in the area.

  2. Day 2: Chikmagalur and Dada Pahad
    Chikmagalur is 150 km (3-hour drive) from Halebeedu
    Dada Pahad is 40 km (1-hour drive) from Chikmagalur

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka, to enjoy a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats. Afterward, head to the Hebbe Falls, a stunning waterfall located in the middle of the forest. Take a dip in the cool water and enjoy the serene surroundings.

    Afternoon: Drive to Chikmagalur and have lunch at one of the local restaurants. Afterward, visit the Coffee Museum to learn about the history of coffee in India and the various coffee estates in the area. You can also visit the Mahatma Gandhi Park to relax and enjoy the greenery.

    Evening: Drive to Dada Pahad, a beautiful hill station in the Baba Budangiri range. Enjoy the stunning views of the mountains and valleys from the top. You can also visit the Baba Budangiri Shrine, a sacred site for both Hindus and Muslims.
