4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Shriniagar in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mughal Gardens
    5 minutes (1.2 miles) from Srinagar International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Mughal Gardens. These beautiful gardens are home to a variety of flowers and trees, and offer stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Spend the afternoon exploring the Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh gardens, which are both part of the Mughal Gardens. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around Dal Lake, which is situated nearby.

  2. Day 2: Shankaracharya Hill
    30 minutes (8.6 miles) from Mughal Gardens

    Start your day with a hike up to Shankaracharya Hill. The hill offers panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Pari Mahal, a beautiful garden with a rich history. After this, explore the Hari Parbat Fort, which is located nearby. In the evening, head over to Lal Chowk for some shopping and local cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Hazratbal Shrine
    20 minutes (5.6 miles) from Shankaracharya Hill

    Begin your day by visiting the Hazratbal Shrine, one of the most important religious sites in the city. After this, explore the Jama Masjid mosque, which is situated nearby. In the afternoon, head over to the Pather Masjid, a beautiful mosque built during the Mughal era. In the evening, visit the Chashme Shahi Gardens for some relaxation and scenic views.

  4. Day 4: Gulmarg
    2 hours 30 minutes (34.6 miles) from Hazratbal Shrine

    Take a day trip to the beautiful town of Gulmarg. Once there, enjoy a scenic gondola ride up to the top of the mountain, where you can take in stunning views of the surrounding landscapes. After this, indulge in some skiing or snowboarding (depending on the season). In the evening, head back to Srinagar for some last minute shopping and dinner.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Dachigam National Park, which is located about an hour outside of Srinagar. You can spot a variety of wildlife here, including the endangered Hangul deer. Another side trip is visiting the Sonamarg, a beautiful valley located about 2 hours from Srinagar. To maximize your fun, try some local street food, such as kebabs, dum aloo and Kashmiri biryani. Lastly, take time to interact with the locals, who are friendly and welcoming.
