4-Day Wayadau Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Mount Gahinga
    25 minutes (8.1 km) from Kisoro

    In the morning, we'll hike up Mount Gahinga, the smallest of the Virunga volcanoes, and take in the stunning views of the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Batwa Trail, an interactive cultural experience that showcases the Batwa people and their way of life. In the evening, we'll relax at the Kisoro Tourist Hotel and enjoy local cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Lake Mutanda
    20 minutes (9.9 km) from Kisoro

    In the morning, we'll take a scenic drive to Lake Mutanda and enjoy a boat ride around the lake while taking in the gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and mountains. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and go gorilla trekking. In the evening, we'll return to Kisoro and dine at the Travellers Rest Hotel.

  3. Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
    1 hour 15 minutes (42.5 km) from Kisoro

    In the morning, we'll drive to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and go on a guided nature walk to see a variety of flora and fauna. In the afternoon, we'll visit the local Batwa community and learn about their culture and way of life. In the evening, we'll stay at the Buhoma Community Rest Camp and enjoy a traditional Ugandan dinner.

  4. Day 4: Lake Bunyonyi
    3 hours 18 minutes (150 km) from Kisoro

    In the morning, we'll drive to Lake Bunyonyi and enjoy a relaxing boat ride around the lake while taking in the stunning scenery. In the afternoon, we'll visit the local villages and learn about the traditions and customs of the Bakiga people. In the evening, we'll dine at the Birdnest@Lake Bunyonyi Resort.

Recommendations

If time permits, consider visiting the Queen Elizabeth National Park and going on a safari to see elephants, lions, and other wildlife. You can also take a side trip to the Rwandan border and visit the nearby town of Ruhengeri. To maximize your fun, be sure to bring comfortable hiking shoes and a good camera to capture all of the beautiful scenery.
