3-Day Wayanadu Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (12.8 km) from Sulthan Bathery

    In the morning, explore the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephants, tigers, and many other animals. Take a guided jeep tour through the forest to see the wildlife up close. In the afternoon, visit the Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, a birdwatcher's paradise, and spot various bird species. In the evening, head to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad, and trek to the heart-shaped lake.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves
    1 hour 20 minutes (40.5 km) from Kalpetta

    Start your morning by exploring the Neelimala View Point, which offers breathtaking views of the valley and the surrounding hills. Then, visit the Edakkal Caves, ancient caves that contain petroglyphs that date back to the Neolithic era. In the afternoon, visit the Soochipara Waterfalls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Wayanad. In the evening, spend your time at the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple

    In the morning, visit the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can see herds of deer and elephants. Take a jeep safari to explore the sanctuary. In the afternoon, visit the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple located amidst the Brahmagiri hills. Take a dip in the Papanasini river, which is believed to have the power to cleanse one's sins. In the evening, drive to the Karapuzha Dam, which offers a serene view of the surrounding hills.
