A 2 Day Itinerary in Kathmandu

  • Day 1: Boudhanath Stupa
    15 minutes (3.3 km) from Tribhuvan International Airport

    Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest stupas in the world and is an important pilgrimage site for Buddhists. It’s a great place to learn about Buddhist culture and traditions. Visitors can walk around the stupa and even do a walking meditation.

  • Day 2: Pashupatinath Temple
    15 minutes (5.5 km) from Boudhanath Stupa

    Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred Hindu temples in the world and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Visitors can witness the cremation ceremonies, take a guided tour of the temple, and learn about Hinduism. It’s also home to many holy men and Sadhus.

Transportation

Public transportation in Kathmandu is limited and crowded. Taxis are available but make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand. Walking is a great way to see the city and most of the attractions are within a short distance of each other.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider visiting Swayambhunath Stupa or Durbar Square. If you have less time, choose between Boudhanath Stupa or Pashupatinath Temple. Make sure to dress appropriately in both places of worship.

Airports

Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM) is the only international airport in Kathmandu. It is located 6 km from the city center and takes about 15 minutes by car.
