3-Day Adventure Itinerary in Georgia (July 2023)

  1. Day 1: Explore the Great Outdoors in Cloudland Canyon State Park
2 hours (127 miles) from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Start your adventure with a visit to Cloudland Canyon State Park, located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain. In the morning, hike the strenuous Waterfalls Trail to view two breathtaking waterfalls, Hemlock and Cherokee Falls. After a picnic lunch, spend the afternoon exploring the park's underground cave system. Finally, relax under the stars with a campfire at one of the park's campsites.

  2. Day 2: White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River
1 hour and 45 minutes (85 miles) from Cloudland Canyon State Park

Get an early start and head north to the Ocoee River for some exciting white water rafting. The river is divided into two sections, Upper and Middle, each with varying degrees of difficulty. Choose the section that suits your skill level best and enjoy a thrilling ride down the rapids. After rafting, head to the nearby town of Blue Ridge for dinner and drinks.

  3. Day 3: Hiking and Zip Lining in Tallulah Gorge State Park
2 hours and 15 minutes (107 miles) from Ocoee River

Finish your adventure with a visit to Tallulah Gorge State Park, located in the northeast corner of Georgia. Start your morning with a hike down to the gorge floor to view the stunning waterfalls and river. In the afternoon, head to the park's recently opened zip line course to soar high above the treetops and get a bird's eye view of the gorge. End your day with a sunset picnic before heading back to Atlanta for your flight home.

Recommendations

For an additional adventure, consider a visit to Stone Mountain Park, located just outside of Atlanta. Here you can hike to the top of the mountain for stunning views, take a scenic train ride around the park, and watch a nightly laser show. If you have extra time, consider a side trip to Cumberland Island National Seashore, located off the coast of Georgia. This remote island offers pristine beaches, wild horses, and historic ruins to explore. To maximize your fun, be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, water, and comfortable shoes for all your outdoor activities.
