5-Day Adventure Itinerary in Mazatlan

  • Day 1: Stone Island Adventure
    30 minutes (10 miles) from Mazatlan city center

    Stone Island is a secluded beach where you can enjoy outdoor activities such as snorkeling, horseback riding, ATV tours, kayaking or sailing. Take a boat from the Estrella del Mar dock and get lost in the clear waters and white sand beaches.

  • Day 2: Mazatlan lighthouse and Surfing
    20 minutes (6 miles) from Stone Island

    Start your day climbing to El Faro, the tallest lighthouse in the Americas, to catch breathtaking views of Mazatlan from above. Afterwards, head to Playa Los Sabalos and take a surfing lesson. The beach has a convenient infrastructure with board rental and changing rooms.

  • Day 3: Mazatlan Aquarium and Scuba Diving
    15 minutes (5 miles) from Playa Los Sabalos

    Visit the Mazatlan Aquarium and admire more than 200 marine species exhibited in 52 pools, including the biggest shark exhibit in Mexico. In the afternoon, immerse yourself in the depths of the Pacific Ocean with a scuba diving tour at Isla de Venados.

  • Day 4: Adrenaline at Huana Coa Canopy and Cliff Diving
    35 minutes (12 miles) from Mazatlan Aquarium

    Feel the thrill of flying through the jungle at Huana Coa Canopy Adventure, the most extensive zip line circuit in the state of Sinaloa. Later, watch fearless divers jumping from a 45-foot rocky cliff at Playa Brava, located in the northern area of Mazatlan.

  • Day 5: Historic Downtown and Parasailing
    20 minutes (5 miles) from Huana Coa Canopy

    Take a stroll in Mazatlan's Historic Downtown, where you can find some of the city's most iconic and picturesque buildings. In the afternoon, get a new perspective of the coast by parasailing at Playa Las Gaviotas. Enjoy bird's eye views of Mazatlan's beaches before heading back home.

Transportation

Transportation in Mazatlan is mainly done by taxi, bus or rental cars. For this itinerary, we recommend renting a car to have more freedom of movement and explore the city comfortably. Estimated travel costs range from $5 to $20 depending on the distance.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider visiting the nearby town of Concordia and the Copala Mining Village. With less time, you could reduce the itinerary to 3 or 4 days and combine some activities. Remember to bring sunscreen, insect repellent, comfortable clothes and closed shoes for some outdoor activities.
