2-Day Foodie Itinerary for Seoul Trip with Accommodations at G2 Hotel Myeongdong in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gwangjang Market
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from G2 Hotel Myeongdong
    Morning: Start the day with a visit to Gwangjang Market, one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in Seoul. There are numerous food stalls selling Korean street food such as bindaetteok (mung bean pancakes), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and hotteok (sweet pancakes with nuts and cinnamon). Make sure to try the famous mayak gimbap (addictive seaweed rice rolls).
    Afternoon: Head to Bukchon Hanok Village, a traditional Korean village with over 900 hanok (Korean traditional houses). Enjoy a traditional Korean lunch at a hanok restaurant such as Tosokchon Samgyetang, which serves ginseng chicken soup and other Korean dishes.
    Evening: End the day with drinks and dinner at Gwangjang Market. Visit the second floor of the market where there are various restaurants serving Korean food such as kalguksu (noodle soup) and jeon (Korean pancake). Try a glass of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) or soju (Korean distilled alcohol).
  2. Day 2: Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market
    30 minutes (6.8 miles) from Gwangjang Market
    Morning: Start the day early with a visit to Noryangjin Fisheries Wholesale Market, the largest seafood market in Seoul. It is best to arrive before sunrise to see the auction and the arrival of fresh seafood. Try some of the freshest seafood at the market's restaurants such as sannakji (live octopus) and hoe (raw fish).
    Afternoon: Visit the Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and most beautiful palace in Seoul. Enjoy a traditional Korean lunch at Geumcheon Tosokchon, a restaurant famous for its hanjeongsik (Korean table d'hôte). This meal consists of rice, soup, various side dishes, and a main dish of your choice.
    Evening: End the day with street food at Myeongdong Night Market. Myeongdong is a shopping district with various street food stalls selling Korean food such as chimaek (fried chicken and beer), dakkochi (chicken skewers), and hotteok (sweet pancakes). Try some Korean desserts like bingsu (shaved ice) or tteok (rice cake).

If you have time, consider visiting the Namsan Tower, which provides a panoramic view of the city. You can also visit the Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a futuristic building with various exhibitions and events. If you want to experience Korean traditional culture, try wearing a hanbok (Korean traditional dress) and take a walk around Gyeongbokgung Palace. For a side trip, visit the city of Suwon, which is known for its Hwaseong Fortress.
