Depart from your location and head towards Vaishnodevi in Jammu and Kashmir. The journey typically takes around 12-14 hours by road or you can choose to take a flight.
Arrive in Katra, the base camp for the Vaishnodevi Yatra. This small town offers a range of comfortable accommodations and facilities for pilgrims.
Begin your trek to the holy shrine of Mata Vaishnodevi. The trek is approximately 14 kilometers long and can be completed on foot, by pony, or by helicopter.
After a moderately challenging trek, you will arrive at Bhawan, the main temple complex. Seek blessings from the Goddess Vaishno Devi and spend some peaceful time in the serene environment.
Head to the langar (community kitchen) and enjoy a simple and delicious vegetarian meal served as prasad (blessed food). The langar serves thousands of visitors daily and is a significant part of the pilgrimage experience.
Explore the mystical Ardhkuwari cave, located midway on the trek. This important stopover is believed to be the place where Mata Vaishno Devi meditated for nine months before slaying the demon Bhairav.
Begin your descent back to Katra. You can choose to trek down or utilize the helicopter service for a faster journey.
Arrive back to your accommodation in Katra and rest after a fulfilling day of spiritual exploration.
Whilst in Katra, consider visiting the Himkoti viewpoint, located around 2.5 kilometers from Bhawan. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills and landscapes. Another local favorite is the Bhairavnath Temple, dedicated to the demon Bhairav. It is believed that the pilgrimage is incomplete without seeking his blessings too. Both attractions are family-friendly and add an extra touch to your Vaishnodevi experience.
