3-Day Honeymoon Itinerary for Ahmedabad in May 2023

  1. Day 1: Sabarmati Ashram
15 minutes (5.4 km) from Ahmedabad Railway Station

Start your morning at the Sabarmati Ashram, a serene and historic site where Mahatma Gandhi lived from 1917 to 1930. Take a peaceful stroll through the ashram grounds and visit the museum to learn about the life and teachings of the Father of the Nation. In the afternoon, head to Law Garden to indulge in some local street food and shop for handicrafts and traditional clothing. In the evening, visit the Kankaria Lake and enjoy a romantic boat ride while watching the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Sarkhej Roza
30 minutes (12.3 km) from Kankaria Lake

Begin your day with a visit to the Sarkhej Roza, an architectural marvel and one of the most iconic heritage sites in Ahmedabad. Marvel at the intricate carvings and unique architectural style that blends Hindu and Islamic designs. In the afternoon, visit the Adalaj Stepwell, a stunning five-story stepwell that dates back to the 15th century. In the evening, head to the Manek Chowk Night Market to feast on delicious street food and soak in the vibrant atmosphere.

  3. Day 3: Jumma Masjid
20 minutes (8.6 km) from Manek Chowk Night Market

On your final day, visit the Jumma Masjid, one of the largest and most beautiful mosques in India. Admire the intricate carvings and grand architecture that reflect the rich Islamic heritage of Gujarat. In the afternoon, visit the Calico Museum of Textiles to learn about the fascinating history and traditions of textile weaving in India. End your day with a romantic dinner at Agashiye, a rooftop restaurant that serves authentic Gujarati cuisine and offers stunning views of the city skyline.

Recommendations

Aside from these attractions, I highly recommend visiting the Sidi Sayed Mosque, the Bhadra Fort, and the Science City. For a side trip, consider visiting the Rann of Kutch, a vast salt desert that is known for its stunning landscapes and unique culture. To maximize your fun, try taking a heritage walk through the old city, taking a cooking class to learn how to make Gujarati cuisine, or attending a traditional dance or music performance. Don't forget to sample some of the delicious local sweets like jalebi, fafda, and dhokla!
