Located on the southern banks of River Krishna, the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and is a must-visit place for devotees. In the morning, you can attend the Abhishekam, a ritualistic bath of the Lord and later have breakfast at the temple canteen. In the afternoon, visit the Sakshi Ganapati Temple, situated close to the Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple, where Lord Ganesha bears witness to the vows of devotees. In the evening, take a ropeway ride to the top of the hill to visit the Bhramaramba Devi Temple and catch the panoramic view of the Srisailam Dam from the top.
The Srisailam Dam, built across the River Krishna, is a popular tourist attraction. In the morning, take a guided tour of the dam and its surroundings. Later, visit the Srisailam Wildlife Sanctuary and spot some of the rare and endangered species of animals, such as tigers, panthers, and sloth bears. In the evening, visit the Akkamahadevi Caves, located amidst the thick forest of the sanctuary, and marvel at the natural rock formations.
You can also visit the Patala Ganga, a holy pond situated at the foot of the Bhramaramba Devi Temple, take a boat ride in the Srisailam Reservoir, or trek to the Hatakeswaram and Phaladhara Panchadhara waterfalls for a more adventurous experience. You can also visit the Mallela Theertham, a scenic waterfall located 58 km away from Srisailam, or the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, located 96 km away. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, especially the spicy Andhra-style biryani and the famous Kandi Podi with rice.
