3-Day Itinerary for Chickmangaluru and Mangalore

  1. Day 1: Visiting Mullayanagiri Peak
    45 minutes (16.7 miles) from Chickmangaluru

    In the morning, we will head to Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka. The drive to the peak is thrilling with beautiful scenery, and once there, you can take a small trek to the top. After the trek, we'll stop at a local restaurant for lunch and then visit the sacred Sharadamba temple, one of the seven sacred places of the Hindus. In the evening, we'll visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary for a jeep safari.

  2. Day 2: Exploring Mangalore
    2 hours (59.4 miles) from Chickmangaluru

    Today, we'll drive to Mangalore and start with a visit to the famous Kadri Manjunath Temple, a 10th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, we'll head to St. Aloysius Chapel, known for its beautiful frescoes and paintings. For lunch, we'll stop by Giri Manja's, a local restaurant that serves some of the best seafood in the city. In the afternoon, we'll visit the Panambur beach, a great spot for swimming and sunset watching. In the evening, we'll head to the city center and visit the New Mangalore Port, a modern port that handles a large number of ships and cargo.

  3. Day 3: Discovering More of Chickmangaluru
    2 hours (86.3 miles) from Mangalore

    On our last day, we'll visit the Kudremukh National Park, a beautiful park that is home to many endangered species such as the tiger, leopard, and wild dog. After the park, we'll stop by the Coffee Museum and the Coffee Estate for a tour and tasting. For lunch, we'll head back to Chickmangaluru and have lunch at the popular Planters Court. Lastly, we'll visit the Belur Temple, a 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu before heading back to the hotel.

Make sure to try the local delicacies such as Mangalorean fish curry and Chicken Ghee Roast. If you have time, visit the Kukke Subramanya temple in Mangalore or go for a trek in the scenic Baba Budangiri hills in Chickmangaluru.
