7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Uttarakhand in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Rishikesh
    30 minutes (14 miles) from Jolly Grant Airport

    Start your day with a thrilling white water rafting adventure on the River Ganges. After lunch, go for a hike to the Neer Garh Waterfall and then relax on the banks of the river in the evening.

  2. Day 2: Auli
    8 hours (200 km) from Rishikesh

    Enjoy a scenic drive through the mountains to Auli. In the morning, take a cable car to the top of the hill and go for a trek to Gurson Bugyal. After lunch, head to the Artificial Lake and enjoy skiing and snowboarding in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Joshimath
    1 hour (12 miles) from Auli

    Start your day with an early morning visit to the Nanda Devi National Park. In the afternoon, visit the ancient temples of Joshimath and learn about the rich history and culture of the region. Watch the sunset over the mountains in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath
    9 hours (220 km) from Joshimath

    Embark on a challenging trek to the Kedarnath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines in Hinduism. Spend the day exploring the temple complex and surrounding natural beauty. Spend the evening stargazing in the mountains.

  5. Day 5: Dehradun
    8 hours (180 km) from Kedarnath

    Head to Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. In the morning, visit the Mindrolling Monastery and learn about Buddhism. After lunch, go for a hike in the Rajaji National Park and spot tigers and elephants. In the evening, visit the Tapkeshwar Temple and witness the evening aarti.

  6. Day 6: Mussoorie
    1 hour (35 km) from Dehradun

    Go for a sunrise trek to the Lal Tibba Scenic Point and watch the panoramic view of the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit the Kempty Falls and take a dip in the refreshing cold water. Spend the evening exploring the local markets and tasting the street food.

  7. Day 7: Haridwar
    2 hours (55 km) from Mussoorie

    End your trip with a visit to the holy city of Haridwar. In the morning, take a dip in the Ganges at the Har Ki Pauri Ghat. After lunch, visit the Chandi Devi Temple and learn about the local mythology. Spend the evening watching the Ganga Aarti ceremony at the ghat.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Valley of Flowers National Park or the Jim Corbett National Park. You can also take a side trip to the nearby hill stations of Nainital and Ranikhet. Make sure to carry comfortable shoes, warm clothes, sunscreen and insect repellent with you for your treks.
