Four Days in Haridwar: A Family Friendly Itinerary in December 2023

  1. Day 1: Har Ki Pauri
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Haridwar Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit Har Ki Pauri, the most popular and holy ghat in Haridwar. Take a dip in the Ganges and be part of the morning aarti ceremony. After lunch, take a walk around the Bara Bazar for some shopping. In the evening, head back to Har Ki Pauri for the mesmerizing Ganga aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Mansa Devi Temple and Chandi Devi Temple
    20 minutes (6.2 km) from Har Ki Pauri

    In the morning, visit Mansa Devi Temple, one of the most sacred temples in India. You can reach the temple by taking a cable car or hiking. After lunch, visit the Chandi Devi Temple, another important temple located on top of Neel Parvat. You can take a cable car to reach this temple too. In the evening, head to the Ganga ghat to enjoy the view of the river and the floating diyas.

  3. Day 3: Rajaji National Park
    1 hour 20 minutes (54.7 km) from Haridwar Junction Railway Station

    Spend the whole day at Rajaji National Park, which is home to tigers, elephants, leopards, and many more animals. You can go on a safari tour or go trekking in the forest. Remember to bring your camera and binoculars. In the evening, head back to Haridwar and have dinner at one of the local restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Shantikunj and Maya Devi Temple
    15 minutes (4.6 km) from Har Ki Pauri

    In the morning, visit Shantikunj, a spiritual academy that teaches ancient Indian wisdom. You can participate in their daily yoga and meditation sessions. After lunch, visit Maya Devi Temple, which is believed to be the birthplace of Goddess Ganga. Take a dip in the holy tank of the temple before leaving. In the evening, enjoy a stroll along the Ganga ghat and try some street food.

Haridwar has many other interesting places to visit, such as the Daksheswara Mahadev Temple, the Bhimgoda Kund, and the Pawan Dham. You can also take a side trip to Rishikesh, which is only 30 minutes away from Haridwar. Rishikesh is famous for yoga, adventure sports, and Beatles Ashram.
