Cultural Immersion in Shirdi, December 2023

  1. Day 1: Shri Saibaba Sansthan Temple

    Start your day by visiting the famous Shri Saibaba Sansthan Temple. The temple is the final resting place of the revered saint, Sai Baba. Witness the beautiful aarti ceremony that takes place here twice a day, early in the morning and late in the evening. The temple is crowded during these ceremonies, so be prepared for the rush. Afterward, explore the temple complex and visit Sai Baba's samadhi inside the temple. You can also visit the museum inside the complex, which showcases Sai Baba's personal belongings along with other interesting exhibits.

  2. Day 2: Khandoba Mandir and Dwarkamai Mosque

    Start your day by visiting the Khandoba Mandir, a small but beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Khandoba. The temple is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a serene environment for meditation and prayer. Afterward, head over to Dwarkamai Mosque, which is located nearby. This mosque holds immense significance for Sai Baba's devotees, as it was his abode for almost 60 years. Spend some time here and soak in the peaceful atmosphere. Before leaving, don't forget to visit the Chavadi, a small structure located adjacent to the mosque that was used by Sai Baba for his evening stays.

  3. Day 3: Shani Shingnapur and Ellora Caves
    1 hour 30 minutes (71 km) from Shirdi Bus Stand

    On day 3, take a day trip to Shani Shingnapur, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shani, the deity associated with planet Saturn. The special feature of this temple is that there is no idol or statue of the deity, but a black rock that is worshipped as the embodiment of Lord Shani. Afterward, head to Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site that boasts of some of the finest rock-cut temples and caves in India. The caves here were built over a period of 600 years, from 6th to 12th century AD by Hindu, Jain and Buddhist monks. Spend the evening exploring these magnificent caves and marveling at the intricate carvings.
