Dalhousie Himachal - 4 Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Khajjiar Lake
    1 hour 20 minutes (22.5 km) from Dalhousie Bus Stand

    Khajjiar Lake, also known as Mini Switzerland, is a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green meadows and cedar forests. Spend the morning boating, horse riding, or just enjoying the scenic beauty. After a picnic lunch, visit the Khajji Nag Temple, which dates back to the 12th century and is dedicated to the serpent god, Khajji Nag. In the evening, visit the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary for a nature walk and birdwatching.

  2. Day 2: Chamera Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (38.7 km) from Khajjiar Lake

    Start the day by visiting the St. John's Church, a beautiful stone church built in 1863. Afterward, head to Chamera Lake, a serene spot for water sports like boating, kayaking, and fishing. Enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant before heading to the Ganji Pahari, a beautiful hill with a panoramic view of the valley. In the evening, return to Dalhousie for some shopping at Gandhi Chowk.

  3. Day 3: Satdhara Falls and Dainkund Peak

  4. Day 4: Panchpula and Kalatop Forest

Afterward, drive to the Kalatop Forest, a beautiful forest reserve with a variety of flora and fauna. Take a nature walk or enjoy a jeep safari in the forest. In the evening, return to Dalhousie for some last-minute shopping.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the nearby towns of Chamba and Khajjiar. Both have beautiful temples and historic buildings worth exploring. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Kasauli, which is known for its colonial architecture and beautiful natural surroundings. Don't forget to try the local food, including the famous Himachali Dham, which is a traditional meal served on special occasions.
