3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Haridwar and Rishikesh in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Har Ki Pauri Ghat
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Haridwar Junction railway station

    In the morning, visit the Har Ki Pauri Ghat, one of the most famous landmarks in Haridwar and a major attraction for pilgrims. Take a dip in the holy river Ganges and attend the Ganga Aarti in the evening, a spectacular display of lights and sounds that is sure to leave you mesmerized.

  2. Day 2: Laxman Jhula
    45 minutes (23 km) from Har Ki Pauri Ghat

    Start your day with a visit to the Laxman Jhula, an iconic suspension bridge over the river Ganges in Rishikesh. Walk across the bridge and explore the many shops and cafes on the other side. In the afternoon, head to The Beatles Ashram, a serene and peaceful place where the famous band once stayed in 1968. End your day by attending the evening Aarti ceremony at Parmarth Niketan Ashram.

  3. Day 3: Neer Garh Waterfall
    1 hour 20 minutes (32 km) from Laxman Jhula

    On your final day, visit the Neer Garh Waterfall, a stunning waterfall located at the foothills of the Himalayas. Enjoy a scenic hike to the waterfall and take a refreshing dip in the cool mountain water. In the afternoon, visit the Triveni Ghat, a popular bathing spot for pilgrims, and attend the Ganga Aarti ceremony there in the evening.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Rajaji National Park, a beautiful wildlife sanctuary located just outside of Haridwar, or taking a day trip to the ancient town of Vrindavan, located about 3 hours away by car. To make the most of your trip, be sure to sample the local street food and take a yoga class or meditation session at one of the many yoga studios in Rishikesh.
