5-Day Itinerary for Kedarnath in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    5 minutes from Kedarnath Helipad

    Morning: Start your trip by visiting the Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

    Afternoon: After visiting the temple, you can explore the town of Kedarnath and enjoy a delicious lunch at any of the local restaurants.

    Evening: In the evening, you can go for a scenic walk along the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary or visit Shankaracharya Samadhi.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal Lake
    5.5 km from Kedarnath Temple

    Morning: Start your day early and trek to Vasuki Tal Lake, which is located at an altitude of 14,200 feet. The trek is around 8 km long and will take you approximately 5-6 hours to complete.

    Afternoon: Have lunch by the serene lake and soak in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

    Evening: Trek back to Kedarnath and relax for the rest of the evening.

  3. Day 3: Tungnath Temple and Chandrashila Peak
    2 hours and 10 minutes (4.6 km) from Kedarnath

    Morning: Start your day early and drive to Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

    Afternoon: After visiting the temple, trek to the Chandrashila Peak, which is located at an altitude of 13,123 feet. The trek is around 5 km long and will take you approximately 3-4 hours to complete.

    Evening: Enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and trek back to Tungnath Temple.

  4. Day 4: Gaurikund and Triyuginarayan Temple
    20 minutes (10.8 km) from Kedarnath

    Morning: Drive to Gaurikund, which is a beautiful town located at the confluence of rivers Mandakini and Ganga.

    Afternoon: After exploring Gaurikund, drive to Triyuginarayan Temple, which is famous for being the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. The temple is open from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

    Evening: Drive back to Kedarnath and relax for the rest of the evening.

  5. Day 5: Kedarnath Helipad
    10 minutes (1.3 km) from Kedarnath Temple

    Morning: Check out of your hotel and head to the Kedarnath Helipad.

    Afternoon: Take a helicopter ride back to Dehradun and enjoy the scenic views of the Himalayas.

    Evening: Depart for your next destination.
