Two-Day Nature Itinerary in Alleppey in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Vembanad Lake
    15 minutes (5.1 km) from Alleppey Beach

    Start your day with a serene boat ride on the Vembanad Lake. The largest lake in Kerala, Vembanad is a sight to behold. You can rent a houseboat, or take a shikara ride, and watch the fishermen at work or spot local birds. In the afternoon, visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, situated on the eastern bank of the lake. Spread over an area of 14 acres, the sanctuary is home to many local and migratory birds. In the evening, stroll along the lake and watch the sunset while enjoying a cup of chai.

  2. Day 2: Marari Beach
    30 minutes (13 km) from Vembanad Lake

    Start your day by visiting the Marari Beach, a beautiful and pristine beach located in a small fishing village. Enjoy a swim in the clear waters or take a walk along the white sandy beach. In the afternoon, visit the Pathiramanal Island, an uninhabited island located in the Vembanad Lake. Accessed only by boat, the island is known for its scenic beauty and is home to many migratory birds. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing Ayurvedic massage or attend a Kathakali dance performance.
