Sonprayag 5-Day Itinerary (May 2023)

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Sonprayag

    Founded by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, Kedarnath is one of the most sacred pilgrimage centers and a part of the char dham yatra. The morning Aarti and Darshan is a must-attend. You can explore the nearby Gandhi Sarovar and Bhairav Temple in the afternoon. Evening trek to Vasuki Tal.

  2. Day 2: Triyuginarayan Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (60 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    Triyuginarayan Temple is the holy place where Lord Shiva got married to Parvati in Treta Yuga. It's a beautiful temple surrounded by natural hot water springs and green mountains. You can spend the afternoon exploring the nearby Gaurikund, where Lord Shiva accepted Ganga into his matted hair.

  3. Day 3: Vasistha Cave
    2 hours 20 minutes (90 miles) from Triyuginarayan Temple

    Vashisht cave is a very scenic and peaceful place and is situated near the confluence of Mandakini and Songanga river. It's believed that Sage Vasistha meditated here. Enjoy the serene surroundings in the morning and explore the nearby Tungnath temple in the afternoon. Trek to Chandrashila in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Hemkund Sahib
    2 hours 30 minutes (85 miles) from Vasistha Cave

    Hemkund Sahib is a popular pilgrimage site for the Sikhs and Hindus, situated at an elevation of 4632 meters above sea level. The morning trek to Hemkund Sahib is a steep climb, but the scenic views make it worth it. Spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful Valley of Flowers.

  5. Day 5: Badrinath Temple
    2 hours 20 minutes (52 miles) from Hemkund Sahib

    Badrinath Temple is one of the most important pilgrimages for Hindus and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and has a peaceful atmosphere. You can explore the nearby Mana Village, the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-Tibetan border, in the afternoon. Attend the evening Aarti at the temple.
