A Week-Long Tour of Mumbai in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gateway of India
    30 minutes (10km) from Mumbai Airport

    In the morning, visit the iconic Gateway of India, which is a stone's throw away from the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. The afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby Colaba Causeway market. Come back in the evening for a boat ride around the harbor and admire the illuminated Gateway of India.

  2. Day 2: Elephanta Caves
    1 hour 15 minutes (14km) ferry ride from Gateway of India

    An early morning ferry ride to Elephanta Caves will take you to this UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend the day exploring the caves, which are dedicated to Lord Shiva. On the way back, stop at the Sassoon Docks to witness the busy fishing harbor.

  3. Day 3: Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
    30 minutes (9km) from Elephanta Caves

    Start the day with a visit to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a historic railway station. The morning can be spent at the Bombay Natural History Society in Colaba. Later, head to the Crawford Market and prepare to be amazed by its architecture and variety of goods. End the day with a visit to the Marine Drive and enjoy the sunset from the promenade.

  4. Day 4: Haji Ali Dargah
    40 minutes (12km) from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

  5. Day 5: Sanjay Gandhi National Park

    Visit the Sanjay Gandhi National Park in the morning, which is home to a variety of wildlife, including leopards. The afternoon can be spent at the Kanheri Caves, which are Buddhist rock-cut monuments located within the park.

  6. Day 6: Juhu Beach
    50 minutes (15km) from Sanjay Gandhi National Park

    Spend the day relaxing at the Juhu Beach, which is one of the most popular beaches in Mumbai. In the evening, head to the nearby ISKCON temple for some spiritual peace and then enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants nearby.

  7. Day 7: Bandra Fort
    40 minutes (10km) from Juhu Beach

    Visit the Bandra Fort in the morning, which is a historic fort located in Bandra. After that, head to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and enjoy the views of the Arabian Sea. In the evening, visit the Mount Mary Church in Bandra and then head to the nearby Carter Road for some street food and shopping.

If you have more time, don't miss the Nehru Science Center, the Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, and the Prince of Wales Museum. You can also take a day trip to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ajanta and Ellora Caves. Mumbai is known for its street food, so be sure to try vada pav, pav bhaji, and bhel puri.
