Florence’s Cathedral is a must-see attraction in the city centre. Known for its iconic terracotta-tiled dome, the cathedral is a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture, topped with its huge dome.
The Uffizi Gallery, located in the centre of Florence, hosts world-class art collections. There are rooms dedicated to different artists, including Raphael, Botticelli, and Michelangelo.
The Accademia is a smaller museum, but it’s home to an excellent collection of works by Michelangelo, including his most famous sculpture, David. It’s also much quieter than the Uffizi, so you can enjoy the art at your own pace.
Most of the attractions in Florence are within walking distance, located close to the city centre. However, if you prefer to use public transport, Florence has a reliable bus system. A single bus ticket costs €1.50 and is valid for 90 minutes. Taxis are available but can be more expensive.
If you have more time, consider visiting Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens, located behind the Uffizi Gallery. If you have less time, consider skipping the Accademia Gallery and spending time at the Galileo Museum, which is also near Florence Cathedral.
Florence Airport (FLR), also known as Amerigo Vespucci Airport, is the closest airport to the city centre. It is only 4 km northwest of Florence and accessible by taxi, bus, or airport shuttle.
