3-Day Family-Friendly Shimla Itinerary in May 2023

  1. Day 1: The Ridge
    10 minutes (2.2 km) from Shimla Mall Road

    In the morning, visit The Ridge, a large open space in the heart of Shimla that offers a panoramic view of the mountains and the city. You can take a stroll here and see Christ Church, the neo-gothic style church, which is one of the oldest churches in North India. In the afternoon, explore the Mall Road, a popular shopping destination that has various shops, restaurants and cafes. End your day with a visit to the Gaiety Theatre, which has an old-world charm and has been a venue for many famous artists.

  2. Day 2: Kufri
    1 hour 30 minutes (20.1 km) from Shimla Mall Road

    Start your day early and head to Kufri, a small picturesque hill station situated at an altitude of 2,510 meters above sea level. You can enjoy a pony or a yak ride and explore the Himalayan Wildlife Zoo, which has rare antelopes, felines, and birds, including Himalayan Monal, the state bird of Himachal Pradesh. After lunch, visit the Mahasu Peak, which offers a breathtaking view of the Great Himalayas. End your day with a visit to the Indira Tourist Park, which is situated near the Himalayan National Park.

  3. Day 3: Chadwick Falls
    30 minutes (7.9 km) from Shimla Mall Road

    On your last day in Shimla, visit Chadwick Falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by dense forest. You can take a dip in the cool water and enjoy the scenic beauty. After that, head to the Jakhoo Hill, which is the highest peak in Shimla and has a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. You can take a ropeway to reach the top of the hill or trek for 30 minutes. End your trip with a visit to the Himalayan Bird Park, which has a wide variety of birds, including the Himalayan Monal.
