Five-Day Volunteering Itinerary in Meghalaya in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Elephant Falls
    30 minutes (12.5 km) from Shillong

    In the morning, visit Elephant Falls, a three-tier waterfall in Shillong. Afternoon, help with planting trees at the nearby Mawphlang Sacred Grove Forest. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Khasi dinner at a local restaurant.

  2. Day 2: Volunteer at the Sohra Village Eco Park
    2 hours (54 km) from Shillong

    Start your day early and drive to the Sohra Village Eco Park. The park has a garden, an aviary, a small zoo, and a butterfly museum. Volunteer with the park staff in maintaining the park. In the evening, visit the Nohkalikai Waterfall, one of the highest waterfalls in India.

  3. Day 3: Explore the Krem Mawmluh Cave
    3 hours (103 km) from Shillong

    Visit the Krem Mawmluh Cave in Cherrapunjee, one of the longest caves in India. Volunteer with the local caving association in maintaining the cave. In the evening, visit the Seven Sisters Waterfall, a group of seven waterfalls located near the Bangladesh border.

  4. Day 4: Volunteer at the Mawlynnong Village
    2.5 hours (89 km) from Shillong

    Visit the cleanest village in Asia, Mawlynnong, and help the villagers maintain their village. Plant trees, paint the village walls, or help with garbage disposal. In the evening, visit the Dawki River and take a boat ride in the crystal clear water.

  5. Day 5: Volunteer at the Laitlum Canyon
    1.5 hours (54 km) from Shillong

    Visit the picturesque Laitlum Canyon and volunteer with the local conservation group in maintaining the canyon. In the afternoon, visit the Shillong Peak, the highest point in Meghalaya. In the evening, enjoy a farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
