4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Manali, Darcha, Kasol in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Manali
    From Manali bus stand to Hadimba Temple, 10 minutes (1.5 km)

    In the morning, head to the Hadimba Temple, an ancient cave temple dedicated to Hadimba Devi, wife of Bhima from Mahabharata. It’s surrounded by a cedar forest and is a serene place to start your trip. In the afternoon, you can visit the Solang Valley which is famous for adventure sports like skiing, paragliding, and zorbing. In the evening head to Old Manali, a quaint village with narrow lanes, cafes, and live music.

  2. Day 2: Darcha
    From Manali to Darcha, 6 hours (147 km)

    In the morning, drive to Darcha, a small village in the Lahaul Valley. En route, stop at Keylong town and visit the Shashur Monastery. It's a scenic drive with the Bhaga river flowing alongside. In the afternoon, check out the Darcha Bridge, which is the starting point of the popular trek to Padum in Zanskar. In the evening, enjoy a cup of tea at a local tea stall and interact with the friendly locals.

  3. Day 3: Kasol
    From Darcha to Kasol, 3.5 hours (105 km)

    In the morning, drive to Kasol, a picturesque village in Parvati Valley. Take a dip in the hot water springs of Manikaran en route. In the afternoon, visit the Parvati River and explore the village on foot. Kasol is known for its hippie culture and has many cafes serving Israeli and Indian cuisine. In the evening, head to Chalal, a nearby village which is known for its trance parties.

  4. Day 4: Kasol
    Exploring Kasol

    In the morning, head to the Malana village which is known for its distinct culture and lifestyle. In the afternoon, visit the Tosh village which is known for its scenic beauty and trekking trails. You can also visit the Kheerganga hot water springs which is a popular trekking destination. In the evening, head back to Kasol and enjoy the local nightlife.

Recommendations

Other attractions you can consider are the Rohtang Pass, a high mountain pass which is open from June to October and offers panoramic views of the Himalayas. You can also try river rafting in the Beas river. If you have more time, you can visit Leh which is a popular destination for adventure sports and scenic beauty.
