5-Day Itinerary for Leh and Ladakh

  1. Day 1: Leh Palace
    20 minutes (3.5 km) from Leh Airport

    Visit the nine-story Leh Palace in the morning, which was once the residence of the royal family of Leh. Spend the afternoon shopping and trying local cuisine at the Leh Market. In the evening, head to the Shanti Stupa for a breathtaking view of the sunset over Leh.

  2. Day 2: Magnetic Hill and Sangam Valley

  3. Day 3: Nubra Valley
    5 hours (120 km) from Sangam Valley

    Take a scenic drive to the Nubra Valley, a high-altitude desert with sand dunes and a Bactrian camel ride. Visit the Diskit Monastery and the 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha. Overnight stay in a traditional homestay.

  4. Day 4: Pangong Tso Lake

    Leave early for a long drive to Pangong Tso Lake, a serene lake with changing colours. Spend the day taking in the views and enjoying a picnic lunch. Return to Leh in the evening.

  5. Day 5: Alchi Monastery and Lamayuru Monastery

    Visit the Alchi Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its frescoes and wood carvings. Continue to the Lamayuru Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. Spend the evening at the Moonland, a unique landscape resembling the craters of the moon.
