Nature-Filled 5-Day Bali Itinerary for August 2023

  1. Day 1: Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary
    9 minutes (1.2 miles) from Ubud Palace

    Start your day early with a visit to the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary to see the cheeky macaques. Stroll through the lush greenery and snap some photos with the playful monkeys. Head to the nearby Pondok Pekak Library & Learning Centre to learn about Balinese culture and art, and try your hand at traditional Balinese painting. In the evening, catch a Kecak fire dance performance at the nearby Pura Dalem Taman Kaja Temple.

  2. Day 2: Mount Batur
    2 hours (34 miles) from Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary

    Rise early for a sunrise trek up Mount Batur, an active volcano. Take in the panoramic views as the sun rises over the stunning landscape. After the trek, relax and unwind in the hot springs nearby. In the afternoon, head to the Tirta Empul temple and take a dip in the holy water. Finish your day with a visit to the Tegalalang Rice Terraces.

  3. Day 3: Menjangan Island
    3 hours 30 minutes (87 miles) from Mount Batur

    Take a snorkelling or diving trip to Menjangan Island, located in the West Bali National Park. Swim with exotic marine life and explore the colourful coral reefs. After lunch on the island, head to the Puri Jati Dive Site for more underwater adventure. On your way back, stop by the Banjar Hot Springs for a relaxing soak.

  4. Day 4: Bali Botanic Garden
    2 hours 45 minutes (50 miles) from Menjangan Island

    Start your day with a visit to the Bali Botanic Garden, home to more than 2,000 species of plants and trees. Take a leisurely walk through the gardens and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery. Afterwards, head to the nearby Gitgit Waterfall for some peaceful relaxation. In the afternoon, take a dip in the Banjar Hot Springs before visiting the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple.

  5. Day 5: Bali Bird Park
    2 hours (29 miles) from Bali Botanic Garden

    End your trip with a visit to the Bali Bird Park, home to over 1,000 birds from all over the world. Take a guided tour to learn about the different bird species and their habitats. After lunch at the park, visit the nearby Goa Gajah temple, also known as the Elephant Cave. End your trip with a visit to the Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu temple.
