The morning starts with a 4.5 miles uphill trek to the highest peak in southern India, Doddabetta. The trail passes through dense sholas, tea estates, and rhododendron bushes. Once you reach the summit, you'll get a panoramic view of the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Mysore plateau. After a packed lunch, head to the Avalanche Lake, where you can go for a refreshing swim, and then continue towards Pykara falls. In the evening, you can get some souvenirs at Charring Cross or try some local street food at the Ooty market.
After an early breakfast, drive to Mudumalai National Park, where you can rent a bike and explore the rugged terrain, streams, and lush vegetation. You can spot some wildlife such as elephants, gaurs, deers, and langurs along the way. After a 3-hour bike ride, you can have a picnic lunch at the Kargudi viewpoint. In the afternoon, drive to Needle Rock viewpoint to witness the breathtaking sunset. End the day with some local delicacies at the Greenfields Restaurant.
If you're interested in tea plantations, you can visit the famous Doddabetta Tea Factory or the Glenmorgan Tea Estate. For a cultural experience, you can visit the Tribal Research Centre or the Mariamman Temple. You can also take a scenic ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway or go for a boating experience in Ooty Lake. If you have an extra day, you can visit the nearby Bandipur National Park or the historical city of Mysore.
