One-Day Nature Itinerary in Mumbai

  1. 6:30AM: Sanjay Gandhi National Park
    1 hour (18.5 km) from Downtown Mumbai

    Start your day early with a visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a lush green paradise in the middle of the city. Home to a variety of flora and fauna, you can take a safari ride to spot tigers, leopards, and other animals, or take a trek to Kanheri Caves, a complex of rock-cut monuments and Buddhist temples.

    1 hour and 10 minutes (13 km) from Sanjay Gandhi National Park

    Take a ferry ride to Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated on an island in the Arabian Sea. These ancient caves are a marvel of rock-cut architecture and home to stunning sculptures of Hindu deities. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, as the climb up to the caves can be steep.

  3. 1:00PM: Hanging Gardens
    1 hour and 20 minutes (12 km) from Elephanta Caves

    Located on the top of Malabar Hill, Hanging Gardens offer a breathtaking view of the city and the Arabian Sea. These terraced gardens are filled with a variety of plants and trees, and the stone animal-shaped hedges make for great photo ops.

    30 minutes (12 km) from Hanging Gardens

    Head to Powai Lake to relax and unwind. This artificial lake is surrounded by beautiful hills and offers a variety of activities, including boat rides and fishing. You can also find many restaurants and cafes around the lake to grab a bite to eat.

    30 minutes (9 km) from Powai Lake

    End your day with a visit to Juhu Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Mumbai. Take a stroll along the beach, watch the sunset, and indulge in some street food. You can also find many vendors selling souvenirs and trinkets.
