The capital city of Gran Canaria has a mix of culture, history, vibrant nightlife and beautiful beaches. Start the day exploring the Old Town area of Vegueta, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its narrow streets lined with colorful colonial-style buildings. After lunch, walk along Las Canteras Beach, one of Gran Canaria’s best and most lively beaches, for water sports or a relaxing sunbath. End your day with a sunset cocktail at one of the city's rooftop bars.
Drive or take a bus trip to the heart of the island to Roque Nublo, Gran Canaria’s most famous natural landmark. A volcanic rock structure that rises 80 meters above ground level with incredible views over the island. Next, visit Los Tilos de Moya, an extensive natural park of exuberant vegetation with several hiking routes meandering along waterfalls and streams, a great opportunity to immerse in the lush green surroundings of the canary islands.
Puerto Rico is a popular coastal town on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria, known for its beaches, lively marina and water sports activities such as parasailing or jet skiing. You can take a boat trip to explore the ocean and enjoy fishing or dolphin watching. As the sun sets, head to the many restaurants and bars in the area, for a romantic dinner or a night out.
Start the day walking through the old town of Vegueta, home to some of Gran Canaria’s most historical buildings like the Santa Ana Cathedral and Casa Museo de Colón. After lunch, head to Teror, a small picturesque village known for its religious heritage, where you can also taste typical island gastronomy and buy souvenirs in the local shops.
A day to relax and enjoy the sun and ocean at Maspalomas and Meloneras beaches, located on the southern coast of Gran Canaria. These beaches are covered with golden sands and surrounded by crystal-clear water, ideal for swimmers and water sports lovers, like windsurfing or kiteboarding. You can also take a camel ride along the dunes or enjoy the upscale shopping and restaurant options in Meloneras.
The last day of the trip is ideal for Palmitos Park, a 20-hectare botanical park nestled in the mountains of southern Gran Canaria. Palmitos Park is home to a wide variety of animals, from tigers, dolphins, and exotic birds, to sharks, crocodiles, and snakes. You can attend animal shows and get close to nature on walks through the park. Some areas may close early depending on the season, so plan accordingly before visiting.
Public transport options include buses and taxis, while car rentals are also popular among tourists. Bus fares start from €1.40, and taxi fares from €0.85 per kilometer. Car rentals start at €25 per day. Keep in mind that during peak travel times, public transportation may be crowded and less frequent than usual, adding extra time to your travel.
If you have less time, consider skipping Teror and Palmitos Park. If you have more time, you could add a visit to Agaete, located in the northwest of Gran Canaria, which is known for its natural pools and landscapes. Also, don't forget to bring sunscreen, comfortable shoes for hiking, and a camera to capture the stunning views.
