Two-Day Itinerary for Chennai in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Marina Beach
    20 minutes (8.9 km) from Chennai International Airport

    Morning: Start your trip with a walk on the longest natural urban beach in India, Marina Beach. Enjoy the beautiful sunrise and the cool breeze while strolling along the beach. Don't forget to try the famous local street food, Sundal. Afternoon: Visit Fort St. George, the first English fortress in India. It has a museum that showcases the colonial past of Chennai. You can also explore the St. Mary's Church and the Wellesley House, which was the former residence of the Governor. Evening: Head to Kapaleeswarar Temple, a 7th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It has a beautiful gopuram (tower) and many shrines. You can also shop for traditional silk sarees in the nearby streets.

  2. Day 2: Mahabalipuram
    1 hour 30 minutes (56 km) from Chennai

    Morning: Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site, Mahabalipuram, famous for its ancient temples and monuments. Explore the Shore Temple, Pancha Rathas, and the Arjuna's Penance. Afternoon: Head to the nearby Crocodile Bank to see various species of crocodiles and alligators. You can also watch a live feeding show. Evening: Witness the traditional art of stone carving at DakshinaChitra. You can also shop for souvenirs and handicrafts from different parts of India.
