Rishikesh Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Parmarth Niketan Ashram
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Rishikesh Bus Station

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to Parmarth Niketan Ashram, a spiritual haven situated in the lap of the Himalayas. Join the morning yoga class and meditate with the sound of the river Ganga.
    Afternoon: Enjoy the serene beauty of the ashram and indulge in some Ayurvedic therapies and massages.
    Evening: Experience the divine Ganga Aarti ceremony in the ashram, a Hindu ritual of worship that involves lighting lamps and singing devotional songs in praise of the river Ganges.

  2. Day 2: Beatles Ashram and Neer Garh Waterfall
    30 minutes (14 km) from Parmarth Niketan Ashram

    Morning: Visit the Beatles Ashram, also known as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Ashram, which was once the home of the famous British band, The Beatles. The place is now abandoned, but the graffiti and murals on the walls are still intact, making it a perfect spot for photography.
    Afternoon: Take a refreshing dip in the Neer Garh Waterfall, nestled in the midst of the Rajaji National Park. The waterfall is surrounded by lush green hills and offers a serene and calm environment to relax and rejuvenate.

  3. Day 3: Triveni Ghat and Rajaji National Park

    Morning: Visit Triveni Ghat, a popular bathing ghat located at the confluence of three holy rivers, Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Take a dip in the holy water and witness the morning puja (worship) ceremony.
    Afternoon: Explore the Rajaji National Park, a biodiversity hotspot located on the foothills of the Shivalik range. The park is home to various species of animals and birds, including tigers, elephants, and leopards. Enjoy a jungle safari and spot some wildlife.
    Evening: Go shopping in the local markets and indulge in some street food. Buy some souvenirs for your loved ones before you leave Rishikesh.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, you can visit the Kunjapuri Temple and watch the sunrise over the Himalayas. You can also try bungee jumping, river rafting, and camping in Rishikesh. A day trip to Haridwar, another holy town located 20 km from Rishikesh, is also a good option.
