Exploring Puri in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jagannath Temple
    10 minutes (2.3 km) from Puri Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Jagannath Temple, which is one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and is known for its annual Rath Yatra festival. The afternoon could be spent exploring the local markets and bazaars, which are famous for their handicrafts, textiles, and jewelry. In the evening, head to the Puri Beach to enjoy the beautiful sunset.

  2. Day 2: Chilika Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Puri

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Chilika Lake, which is the largest brackish water lake in Asia and a natural habitat for a variety of birds and marine life. Enjoy a boat ride to explore the lake and its islands. Later, visit the Nalabana Bird Sanctuary, which is located in the lake and home to a variety of migratory birds. In the afternoon, visit the Baliharachandi Temple, which is located on the coast and offers stunning views of the Bay of Bengal. In the evening, head back to Puri and enjoy a seafood dinner at a local restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Konark Sun Temple

    In the morning, visit the Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most famous tourist attractions in Odisha. Built in the 13th century, this temple is dedicated to the Sun God and is known for its intricate carvings and architecture. In the afternoon, visit the Ramachandi Temple, which is located on the banks of the Kushabhadra River and offers a peaceful atmosphere. In the evening, head back to Puri and spend some time relaxing on the beach.
