In the morning, we will drive to Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary. The trek to Brahmagiri peak is a thrilling adventure with a hike of approximately 7 km through the forests and streams. You can spot different species of birds, butterflies, and animals like the lion-tailed macaque, elephant, and spotted deer along the way. We will have lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the next destination. In the evening, we will visit the Raja's Seat viewpoint to witness the spectacular sunset.
Today, we will visit the stunning Abbey Falls. We will trek through the lush green coffee plantations, orchards, and spice gardens spanning 2 km. The waterfall cascades from a height of 70 feet and the sound of the water gushing through the rocks is a serene experience. We will have lunch at a local restaurant and then head to Dubare Elephant Camp. Here, you can participate in various activities like elephant feeding, bathing, and river rafting. In the evening, we will return to the city center and explore the local markets and shops.
On our final day, we will visit Honnamana Kere Lake, the largest lake in Coorg. We will enjoy a peaceful boat ride in the lake and explore the surrounding forests. After that, we will visit the Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful blend of Islamic and Gothic style of architecture. We will have lunch at a local restaurant and then head to the Madikeri Fort, a historical site that was once the palace of the Kodagu kings. We will end our trip by watching a cultural dance performance at the fort.
If you are interested in adventure sports, you can try river rafting or zip-lining at Barapole River. The Mandalpatti viewpoint provides a panoramic view of the Western Ghats mountain range and is perfect for a sunrise or sunset visit. You can also visit the Chelavara Falls, situated amidst the coffee plantations and dense forests. For a side trip, you can visit the nearby town of Virajpet and witness the local lifestyle and culture of the Coorg people.
