Trek to Tungnath and visit to Badrinath- A 4-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Rishikesh and Drive to Chopta
    6 hours (210 km) from Rishikesh

    After arriving in Rishikesh, you will start your journey to Chopta. It is a small and serene hamlet located at an altitude of 2,680 meters. The drive from Rishikesh to Chopta is scenic and passes through the beautiful towns of Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag. You can enjoy the view of the Ganga and Alaknanda rivers along the way. After reaching Chopta, check in to your hotel, and relax for the evening.

  2. Day 2: Tungnath Trek
    1 hour (3.5 km) from Chopta

    Start your day early and head to Tungnath, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trek to Tungnath is 3.5 km long and takes around 2-3 hours. You can witness the beautiful view of the Himalayas and the lush green forests on the way. After reaching Tungnath, you can visit Chandrashila, which is at a height of 4,000 meters and provides a 360-degree view of the Himalayas. Trek down to Chopta and spend the evening exploring the nearby areas.

  3. Day 3: Drive to Badrinath
    6 hours (220 km) from Chopta

    After breakfast, check out from the hotel and head towards Badrinath, which is a holy town and is one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage sites in India. The drive from Chopta to Badrinath is very scenic and passes through Joshimath and Vishnuprayag. After reaching Badrinath, check-in to your hotel and spend the evening visiting the Badrinath temple, Tapt Kund, and Narad Kund.

  4. Day 4: Visit Mana Village and Departure
    1 hour (4.5 km) from Badrinath

    Start your day by visiting the Mana village, which is the last village on the Indian side of the Indo-China border. You can visit the Vyas Gufa, which is the cave where Sage Vyas is believed to have written the Mahabharata. You can also visit Bhim Pul, which is a natural rock bridge over the Saraswati river. After that, head back to Badrinath and depart for Rishikesh.

If you have more time, you can visit Auli, which is a popular skiing destination. You can also visit the Valley of Flowers, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its meadows of endemic alpine flowers and the variety of flora.
