4-Day Somnath Gir National Park, Dwarka, and Diu Family-Friendly Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Somnath
    20 minutes (6.6 miles) from Gir National Park

    Start your day with a visit to the beautiful Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Spend the afternoon at the serene Somnath Beach, enjoying the warm sunshine and the sound of waves. In the evening, explore the Somnath Bazaar for some local souvenirs and traditional snacks.

  2. Day 2: Gir National Park
    2 hours 30 minutes (92 miles) from Dwarka

    Explore the Gir National Park, home to the majestic Asiatic lions and other exotic wildlife. Take a morning safari and spot animals such as leopards, hyenas, and crocodiles. After lunch, visit the Kamleshwar Dam located inside the park. In the evening, relax at your hotel and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

  3. Day 3: Dwarka
    2 hours 40 minutes (140 miles) from Diu

    Begin your day with a visit to the Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. Then head to the beautiful Dwarka Beach and take a dip in the Arabian Sea. After lunch, visit the Rukmini Devi Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna's wife. In the evening, take a stroll in the lively markets of Dwarka and shop for some souvenirs.

  4. Day 4: Diu
    1 hour 20 minutes (36 miles) from Somnath

    Explore the charming town of Diu, a former Portuguese colony. Begin your day at the Diu Fort, which offers a panoramic view of the Arabian Sea. Then visit the St. Paul's Church, built in the 17th century. After lunch, spend some time at the Nagoa Beach and indulge in some water sports. In the evening, head to the Diu market and shop for some handicrafts.

Recommendations

Don't miss a chance to witness the famous Aarti at the Somnath Temple in the evening. If you have more time, you can also visit the Girnar Mountain and climb its 10,000 steps to reach the top. Another great side trip is the Saputara Hill Station, which is 3 hours away from Gir National Park.
