Ahmedabad Relaxation Trip in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sabarmati Ashram
10 minutes (3.5 km) from Ahmedabad Railway Station

Sabarmati Ashram was once the residence of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The Ashram is now a museum where visitors can see the room where Gandhi lived and worked. You can also see letters, photographs, and other memorabilia from his life. The museum houses a library with books on Mahatma Gandhi and the Indian Freedom Struggle. Spend your morning here understanding the life and values of the Mahatma. In the afternoon, visit the Hathi Singh Jain Temple, one of the most beautiful temples in Ahmedabad. The temple was built in 1850 AD and is dedicated to the 7th Jain Tirthankar, Shri Dharmanath. Later in the evening, enjoy a relaxing sunset at the Sabarmati Riverfront Promenade.

  2. Day 2: Kankaria Lake
25 minutes (7.5 km) from Sabarmati Ashram

Kankaria Lake is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ahmedabad. The lake is surrounded by gardens, a zoo, an aquarium, and a water park. Take a morning stroll around Kankaria Lake and enjoy the sunrise. You can also visit the Kamla Nehru Zoo, which houses a wide variety of animals, including lions, tigers, and elephants. In the afternoon, explore the Calico Museum of Textiles. The museum houses an extensive collection of textiles from all over India and is a must-visit for anyone interested in textiles. Spend your evening at Manek Chowk, Ahmedabad's most famous food street. You can find a variety of street food here, from pav bhaji to dosas and sweet dishes.

Recommendations

Consider taking a day trip to the Sun Temple in Modhera, 100 km from Ahmedabad. The temple is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is known for its intricate carvings. You can also take a trip to the Rann of Kutch, the largest salt desert in the world. Both trips will take a full day, so plan accordingly.

To maximize your fun, consider going on a heritage walk in the old city of Ahmedabad. You can explore the narrow lanes and learn about the history and culture of the city. You can also take a food walk and try some of the local delicacies.

Other suggestions: Visit the Adalaj Stepwell, Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, and the Jama Masjid. All three are architectural marvels and are worth a visit.
