3-Day Itinerary for Rameswaram in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Rameswaram Temple
    5 minutes (0.5 km) from Rameswaram Bus Stand

    In the morning, visit one of the most famous temples in India, Rameswaram Temple. Dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the Char Dhams, it's an important religious destination for Hindus. The temple's architecture is awe-inspiring, and you'll find it interesting to learn about the temple's history and rituals. In the afternoon, visit the Agnitheertham, a famous beach where pilgrims take a dip before visiting the temple. In the evening, visit the Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge, popularly known as Pamban Bridge. It's India's first sea bridge and is a beautiful place to catch the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Dhanushkodi
    25 minutes (18 km) from Rameswaram Temple

    Spend your morning at Dhanushkodi, a ghost town that was destroyed by a cyclone in 1964. Despite being in ruins, it's a beautiful place to witness. The beach is clean, and the water is crystal clear. In the afternoon, visit the Gulf of Mannar Marine National Park, where you can indulge in water activities like snorkelling and scuba diving. In the evening, take a stroll on the Dhanushkodi Beach, and you might spot some dolphins if you're lucky.

  3. Day 3: Kalam National Memorial
    20 minutes (14 km) from Dhanushkodi Beach

    Visit the Kalam National Memorial, a museum dedicated to the former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. You'll learn about his life, work, and achievements. In the afternoon, visit the Jada Tirtham, a famous temple that's believed to have medicinal properties. In the evening, visit the Vivekananda Memorial, located on a small island near Rameswaram. The memorial is a tribute to the famous Indian philosopher Swami Vivekananda and is an excellent place to end your trip.

You can also visit the Rama Setu (Adam's Bridge), a bridge that's believed to have been built by Lord Rama to reach Sri Lanka.
