Two-Day Itinerary for Shimoga in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    46 minutes (22.9 miles) from Shimoga

    Start your day with a breathtaking view of the Jog Falls, which is one of the highest plunge waterfalls in India. In the morning, take a stroll on the nearby trails, take photographs and enjoy the view. In the afternoon, visit the Sharavathi River backwaters which is a beautiful spot for boating and kayaking. In the evening, visit the Linganamakki Dam and enjoy the sunset view over the dam.

  2. Day 2: Gajanur Dam and Elephant Camp
    29 minutes (14.8 miles) from Shimoga

    Start your day with a visit to the Gajanur Dam, which is situated on the Tunga River. This place is perfect for a picnic with your family and friends. In the afternoon, visit the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, which is home to more than 20 elephants. You can watch the elephants being fed, bathed and trained by the mahouts. In the evening, visit the Koodli Temple which is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit the Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Safari, which is a 45-minute drive from Shimoga. You can also visit the Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary which is home to more than 300 species of birds. If you are interested in history, you can visit the Shivappanaika Palace Museum which is located in Shimoga town. You can also take a day trip to the nearby hill stations of Agumbe and Kodachadri.
