6-Day Assam Motorcycle Riding Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Guwahati
    15 minutes (6.5 miles) from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport

    Start your journey in Guwahati, the largest city in Assam. In the morning, visit the Kamakhya Temple, a famous pilgrimage site for Hindus. In the afternoon, explore the Assam State Museum to learn about the state's history, culture and art. In the evening, head to the Brahmaputra River to enjoy a sunset river cruise.

  2. Day 2: Tezpur
    4 hours (120 miles) from Guwahati

    On the way to Tezpur, stop at Hajo, a pilgrimage center for Hindus, Muslims, and Buddhists. In Tezpur, visit the historic Agnigarh Hill to enjoy panoramic views of the city. In the afternoon, explore the ruins of Da Parbatia, a 6th-century temple and one of the oldest surviving brick temples in Assam. In the evening, take a stroll in Mahabhairav Temple, one of the most famous Shiva temples in Assam.

  3. Day 3: Kaziranga National Park
    3 hours (90 miles) from Tezpur

    Start your day early and head to Kaziranga National Park, home to the famous one-horned rhinoceros. Take a jeep safari to explore the park and spot other wildlife such as tigers, elephants, and wild water buffalo. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Panbari Reserve Forest to witness the rich birdlife of Assam. In the evening, attend a cultural show at the Kaziranga Cultural Centre to learn about the local culture and traditions.

  4. Day 4: Jorhat
    4 hours (100 miles) from Kaziranga National Park

    On the way to Jorhat, stop at Sivasagar to explore the Ahom-era monuments such as the Talatal Ghar, the largest of the Ahom monuments. In Jorhat, visit the Majuli Island, the largest river island in the world. Explore the island on bicycle and visit the Satras, the religious and cultural institutions of the Assamese Vaishnavism. In the evening, enjoy the beautiful sunset over the Brahmaputra River.

  5. Day 5: Sivasagar
    2 hours (50 miles) from Jorhat

    Explore the historic town of Sivasagar, the former capital of the Ahom Kingdom. Visit the Sivasagar Sivadol, a 18th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, visit the Rang Ghar, the oldest surviving amphitheater in Asia, and the Joysagar Tank, the largest man-made tank in India. In the evening, take a stroll in the Talatal Ghar, the largest of the Ahom monuments.

  6. Day 6: Dibrugarh
    2 hours (50 miles) from Sivasagar

    On the way to Dibrugarh, stop at Tinsukia to visit the Digboi Oil Refinery, the first oil refinery in Asia. In Dibrugarh, visit the Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary, home to several endangered species such as Hoolock Gibbon and Clouded Leopard. In the evening, explore the local market and taste the delicious local cuisine of Assam.
