Transportation

Useful Tips

For those with more time, we suggest visiting the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a former residence of the emperor. For those with less time, Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine and Arashiyama Bamboo Forest can be combined in one day if you start early. Keep in mind that weekends and holidays tend to be more crowded, so try to plan your trip accordingly.

The closest airport to Kyoto is Osaka International Airport (ITM), also known as Itami Airport. It is located 50 km north of Kyoto and takes approximately 50 minutes by car or train. Another option is Kansai International Airport (KIX), located 100 km southwest of Kyoto, which takes about 2 hours by car or train.
